1. Information We Collect
PDF Shelve (hereinafter the "App") does not directly collect personal information. All data in the App is stored solely on the user's device and is not transmitted to any external server.
Data Stored Locally
The following data is stored locally on the user's device:
- PDF Files: Imported PDF files are copied to and managed within the App's internal storage
- Library Data: Category structure and file metadata (name, size, page count, date added)
- Reading History: Last read page position, page bookmarks, most recent opening time
- Thumbnail Cache: Thumbnail images in WebP format for PDF previews
- App Settings: Theme (system/light/dark), language (system/Korean/English), page-turn mode (scroll/swipe), view mode (list/grid), night mode, privacy consent status
Information Collected by Third Parties
The App uses the following third-party services, each of which may collect data in accordance with its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob: May collect advertising ID, device information, and usage data to deliver advertisements (adaptive banners, app open ads). Advertising data collection is disabled upon purchase of the ad-removal option.
- Google Play Billing: Processes payment information for handling in-app purchases (ad removal). Payment data is processed by Google.
- Google UMP SDK: Manages GDPR consent for users in the European Economic Area (EEA).
2. Purpose of Use
Information stored on the device is used solely for the following purposes:
- Managing PDF files and organizing the library
- Saving and restoring reading progress (last page, bookmarks)
- Maintaining user preferences (theme, language, view mode, etc.)
- Improving display performance through PDF thumbnail generation and caching
3. Data Retention and Deletion
All data is retained solely on the device on which the App is installed.
- Delete All Data: Users can immediately delete PDF files, reading history, and app settings via Settings > Data Management > "Delete All Data"
- Withdraw Consent: Users can withdraw their consent via Settings > Data Management > "Withdraw Privacy Consent". The consent screen will be displayed again the next time the App is launched.
- Uninstalling the App: Uninstalling the App automatically removes all local data

Consent settings
When a user purchases ad removal through Google Play, all advertisements are disabled.
5. Consent and User Rights
On first launch, the App displays a consent screen for data processing, explaining what data is stored and how it is used. Users may only use the App after providing consent.
Users may exercise the following rights at any time:
- Delete all stored data in the App settings
- Withdraw privacy consent in the App settings
- Disable ad personalization in the Android device settings
- Reset the advertising ID in the Android device settings
- Change ad privacy options in the App settings (EEA users)
6. App Permissions
- Internet Access: Required for displaying advertisements and processing in-app purchases
- Network State: Required to check connection status for loading advertisements
- File Access: The App accesses only the PDF files directly selected by the user through the Android Storage Access Framework (SAF). It does not request any separate storage permissions.
7. Children's Privacy
This App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
If this Privacy Policy is changed, we will notify users through an app update or a notice on our website. Continued use of the App after such changes will be deemed acceptance of the revised policy.
