These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Sia Makerlab ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") regarding your use of the Sia Linux VM mobile application ("App" or "Service").
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Sia Linux VM is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the QEMU project, Canonical (Ubuntu), the Debian project, the Fedora project, Docker, Inc., Red Hat, Inc., or any other vendor. "Linux" is a registered trademark of Linus Torvalds, and QEMU, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Docker, and other names are trademarks of their respective owners, used here only descriptively.
The App helps you create and run ARM64 Linux virtual machines locally on Android. It includes a verified QEMU runtime and related firmware/ROM files, guides VM setup, imports user-selected Linux images into app-managed storage, starts and controls VM processes, displays a raw xterm-compatible serial console, supports localhost TCP port forwarding, and shows local host and guest status where available.
The App does not include Linux operating system images, Docker Engine, distribution packages, or guest applications. You must obtain Linux images, installer ISOs, disks, packages, and guest software yourself from sources you choose.
Performance and compatibility depend on your Android device, Android version, available CPU/RAM/storage, thermal state, the bundled runtime, and the image you choose. The App does not guarantee KVM availability, GPU acceleration, x86 guest performance, Docker availability, successful boot of every image, or suitability for production workloads.
The App bundles QEMU as a GPL v2 runtime and runs it as a separate local process. The QEMU integration layer is published separately under GPL v2. You agree that your rights to QEMU and related open-source components are governed by their applicable licenses.
You are solely responsible for the Linux images, installer ISOs, additional disks, guest software, and network services you use with the App. You represent and warrant that you have lawfully obtained them and that your use complies with their licenses and terms.
You may not use the App to obtain, run, distribute, or connect to files, systems, or networks that you are not authorized to use.
Running a virtual machine is resource-intensive. It can heat your device, drain battery, consume storage and memory, reduce performance, and cause data loss if you delete, overwrite, detach, or modify disks incorrectly. The App provides checks, warnings, monitoring, recovery steps, and safer deletion rules, but you remain responsible for confirming destructive actions and keeping your own backups.
The App is not a backup, disaster recovery, high-availability, or security isolation product. Do not rely on it for critical data without independent backups and validation.
The built-in terminal uses a local QEMU serial console and does not require SSH credentials. If you configure guest networking, local port forwarding, or services inside the guest, you are responsible for securing those services and ensuring your use is lawful.
QEMU Guest Agent status, where available, is used for read-only guest information display and VM control support. The App does not provide Docker binaries, install Docker, list containers, or control containers.
Diagnostic export is optional and user-requested. Although the App is designed to remove guest console content, names, URLs, addresses, secrets, and internal paths, you are responsible for reviewing anything you share with another app or recipient.
The App is free to use and may display Google AdMob App Open ads. App Open ads are not shown while a VM is running, during onboarding, during the consent flow, during a purchase flow, or after ad removal applies to the current app installation.
The App offers a voluntary repeatable donation product through Google Play Billing. All VM features are available whether or not you donate. After the first confirmed donation, ads are removed for the current app installation as a thank-you. Because the donation product is consumable and repeatable, the local ad-removal state may not be restorable after uninstalling the App, clearing App data, or moving to another installation unless future App behavior or Google Play state provides otherwise.
Purchases are processed by Google Play and are subject to Google's terms and refund policies. We do not receive your payment card information.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on a compatible Android device that you own or control, for personal or internal business purposes.
This license covers the App only. QEMU, firmware, terminal components, and other open-source components are governed by their own licenses. Linux images, distributions, packages, and guest software you supply are governed by their own licenses.
You agree not to:
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you may have under applicable open-source licenses for components such as QEMU.
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains the App's local-storage model, advertising and billing services, optional diagnostic export, and third-party data handling.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, COMPATIBILITY, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SIA MAKERLAB SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, DEVICE FUNCTION, VM CONTENT, IMAGES, DISKS, OR GUEST FILES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP.
We may terminate or suspend access to the App where we believe use violates these Terms or applicable law. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Local data removal is governed by Android storage behavior and the App's deletion features.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, may provide notice in the App or on the App listing. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. For users in the European Union, these Terms shall be interpreted in accordance with applicable EU law.
Disputes shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the Republic of Korea, except where applicable consumer law provides otherwise.
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Sia Makerlab regarding the App.
