1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Sia Makerlab ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") regarding your use of the Sia NAS Manager mobile application ("App" or "Service").

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the App after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Independent Tool Disclaimer

Sia NAS Manager is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Synology Inc., iXsystems, Inc. (TrueNAS), or any other vendor. "Synology" and "DSM" are trademarks of Synology Inc., "TrueNAS" is a trademark of iXsystems, Inc., and "Linux" is a registered trademark of Linus Torvalds; these and other marks belong to their respective owners and are used only descriptively. The App connects to the standard interfaces those systems expose — SSH, the DSM Web API, and the TrueNAS REST API — and does not bundle or redistribute vendor software. The App is a status-and-operations tool, not a file manager, and is not a substitute for your server's own audit logs; the monitoring history it records is local to your device.

3. Description of Service

Sia NAS Manager is an Android tool for monitoring and operating NAS units and Linux home servers that you are authorized to access. The App is serverless: it connects directly from your device to the servers you specify — over SSH (Generic Linux), the DSM Web API (Synology), or the REST API (TrueNAS SCALE) — and there is no Sia Makerlab server in the path. It provides the following features:

  • A unified dashboard across multiple servers — online state, CPU, memory, and storage usage, with a per-server health summary
  • Storage pools, volumes, disks, SMART status, temperature, and network interfaces where the provider supports them
  • Service status with start, stop, and restart where your permissions and the provider allow
  • A log viewer (journalctl / dmesg, DSM Log Center, TrueNAS logs) with sensitive data masked
  • A built-in SSH terminal for Generic Linux (and for DSM / TrueNAS when SSH is enabled)
  • Power management: Wake-on-LAN, reboot, and shutdown, guarded by confirmation and optional biometric authentication
  • Background light checks via WorkManager with local notifications for offline, low-space, and pool/disk problems
  • A Demo mode with offline sample scenarios (healthy, low-space, degraded RAID, overheating disk, and offline)

Because the App is organized around the capabilities each server reports, a given screen or action appears only when the connected server actually supports it. Some providers are planned for a future release; availability may change over time. The App is provided for Android devices only.

4. Your Servers and Your Data

You connect to your own servers using your own credentials, and you act with the permissions those credentials hold. You are solely responsible for the actions you take against your servers, including rebooting, shutting down, sending Wake-on-LAN, controlling services, and running terminal commands. You represent and warrant that you are authorized to access each server you connect to and to perform the operations you execute, and you agree not to use the App to access, alter, or interfere with any system you do not own or have permission to use.

Your servers, credentials, SSH keys, and data remain yours. Because the App communicates directly with your servers, we do not receive, hold, or control any of it.

5. Operational and Destructive Actions

Administrative operations can disrupt production systems. Reboot, shutdown, and service stop/restart can cause downtime, interrupted transfers, or data loss on the affected server and anything that depends on it. The App applies safeguards — confirmation dialogs and optional biometric authentication for destructive power actions — but you are responsible for confirming these actions and for their consequences. You should maintain your own backups and change-management process. Do not rely on the App as a backup, recovery, or audit system for critical infrastructure. The operations available in the App reflect what your credentials are permitted to do on the server; the App does not add or restrict those permissions.

6. Ads and In-App Purchases

The App is planned to be free to use. If a release enables advertising, it is served through Google AdMob and is never shown on the terminal, log, credential, connection, or destructive-confirmation screens. Where advertising is enabled, you may remove ads through a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase:

  • The App is free to use, with ads where advertising is enabled.
  • Purchasing the ad-removal option removes advertising for the current app installation.
  • The purchase is restored automatically on app start and can be restored manually from the settings screen.

Purchases are processed by Google Play and are subject to Google's terms; entitlements are reconciled with Google Play. Except as required by law or Google Play policy, purchases are non-refundable. Advertising is served by Google AdMob using its own advertising identifier and device signals and does not use any data obtained from the servers you connect to.

7. License Grant and Restrictions

7.1 License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on a compatible device that you own or control, solely for your personal or internal business purposes.

7.2 Restrictions

You agree NOT to:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the App or any portion thereof
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices on the App
  • Use the App for any illegal, harmful, or unauthorized purpose, including accessing servers you are not authorized to use
  • Sell, rent, lease, or sublicense the App to third parties

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

8.1 General Disclaimer

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that connections, monitoring readings, or administrative operations will be accurate, complete, or uninterrupted.

8.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SIA MAKERLAB SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES — INCLUDING SERVICE DISRUPTION, DOWNTIME, OR DATA LOSS ON YOUR SERVERS — RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

9. Security

The App encrypts credentials and SSH keys at rest using the Android Keystore (AES-GCM), stores only a credential reference in its local database, and excludes secrets from backup. It verifies and pins SSH host keys by SHA-256 fingerprint and pins self-signed certificates on your confirmation, blocking connections when a host identity changes. You are responsible for keeping your device, your credentials, and your servers secure, and for choosing appropriate transport security for your connections.

10. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices, including our serverless, direct-connection model.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to us or third parties, or for any other reason.

You may terminate your use of the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms and, for material changes, displaying a notice within the App or on the App's listing. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. For users in the European Union, these Terms shall be interpreted in accordance with applicable EU law.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the Republic of Korea.

14. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sia Makerlab regarding your use of the App.
