These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Sia Makerlab ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") regarding your use of the Sia MQTT Client mobile application ("App" or "Service").
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the App after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Sia MQTT Client is an Android tool for exploring, debugging, and monitoring MQTT brokers that you are authorized to access, and for building real-time dashboards and automation. The App is serverless: it connects directly from your device to the brokers you specify — over TCP, TLS, WebSocket, or WSS — and there is no Sia Makerlab server in the path. It provides the following features:
$SYS preset, diffs, and history charts.siamqtt) import/exportThe App is provided for Android devices only. Some capabilities (such as client-certificate mutual TLS) are planned for future releases; availability may change over time.
You connect to your own brokers using your own credentials, and you act with the permissions those credentials hold. You are solely responsible for the actions you take, including subscribing to topics, publishing messages, and triggering automation actions. You represent and warrant that you are authorized to access each broker you connect to and to publish or subscribe to the topics you use, and you agree not to use the App to access, alter, or interfere with any system you do not own or have permission to use.
Your brokers, credentials, certificates, and messages remain yours. Because the App communicates directly with your brokers, we do not receive, hold, or control any of it.
Publishing messages and running automation rules can affect live systems. A published message, or an automation action that publishes, may control devices, change state, or trigger downstream behavior on your broker and anything subscribed to it. The App provides safeguards — confirmation for risky transport choices, a side-effect-free dry-run mode, and built-in cooldown, debounce, and rate limiting for rules — but you are responsible for the messages you publish and the rules you enable and for their consequences. Do not rely on the App as a backup, recovery, or audit system for critical infrastructure.
Monitor mode keeps a background connection alive using a foreground service with a persistent notification. Background connectivity may be limited by device battery optimization, Doze mode, and OEM power-saving policies, and the App does not fully bypass those limits. The App does not guarantee uninterrupted delivery, reception, or automation while in the background.
The App is free to use. It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no analytics, and no remote logging, and does not communicate with any server other than the brokers you specify. If this ever changes, we will update these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the app listing accordingly.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on a compatible device that you own or control, solely for your personal or internal business purposes.
You agree NOT to:
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that connections, message delivery, or automation will be accurate, complete, timely, or uninterrupted.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SIA MAKERLAB SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES — INCLUDING ANY EFFECT ON DEVICES OR SYSTEMS CONTROLLED THROUGH YOUR BROKER — RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.
The App encrypts passwords and certificate keys at rest using the Android Keystore (AES-256-GCM) in EncryptedSharedPreferences, stores only a reference in its local database, and excludes secrets from backup. TLS with hostname verification is enabled by default, and disabling verification or trusting a self-signed certificate is an explicit, risk-flagged choice. Credentials, topics, and payloads are redacted from logs, diagnostics, and exports. You are responsible for keeping your device, your credentials, and your brokers secure, and for choosing appropriate transport security for your connections.
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices, including our serverless, direct-connection model.
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to us or third parties, or for any other reason.
You may terminate your use of the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms and, for material changes, displaying a notice within the App or on the App's listing. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. For users in the European Union, these Terms shall be interpreted in accordance with applicable EU law.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the Republic of Korea.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sia Makerlab regarding your use of the App.
