1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Sia Makerlab ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of the LingoPlayer mobile application (the "App").

LingoPlayer is a local video player that pre-translates subtitles using an AI provider that you connect. The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not operate a server that stores your content. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

The App does not require an account and does not ask for personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical address. The only information you provide is:

• AI provider settings, including the provider endpoint you choose and the API key you enter, used to connect to your AI service.

2.2 Information Processed on Your Device

2.2.1 Your Video and Subtitle Files

You select local video files and subtitle files (SRT, ASS, VTT) using Android's file picker (Storage Access Framework). These files are read and played on your device. We do not upload, copy, or transmit your video files to us, and we operate no server that receives them.

2.2.2 Local Device Storage

The App stores the following data only on your device:

This data is stored exclusively on your device. We do not have access to it, and it is never transmitted to our servers.

2.3 Information Sent to Your AI Provider (Third-Party)

When you enable subtitle translation, the App sends subtitle text (and, where applicable, text extracted from the video for translation) together with your API key to the AI provider you have configured — for example a local/self-hosted AI, an OpenAI-compatible service, Anthropic (Claude), or Google Gemini. This transmission goes directly from your device to the provider's endpoint that you specify.

• We do not operate these AI services and do not receive, store, or process this content.
• The handling of data you send is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms.
• If you connect a local or self-hosted AI on a network you control, the data stays within that environment.
• If you do not configure a provider or do not enable translation, no subtitle content is sent anywhere.

2.4 Advertising Data (Third-Party)

The free version of the App displays advertisements through Google AdMob, specifically an app-open ad (shown at most once every 15 minutes) and an interstitial (full-screen) ad before playback (shown at most once per hour per video). Our advertising partner may collect:

• Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID)
• Device information (device type, operating system version)
• IP address
• General location data (country/region level)
• Ad interaction data

Where required, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent for personalized advertising. This data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

2.5 In-App Purchase Data (Third-Party)

The App offers an optional one-time "remove ads" purchase that turns off all advertising. The transaction is processed entirely by Google Play. We receive only:

• Purchase status (owned / not owned)
• Transaction ID for verification purposes

We do not receive or store any payment card information, billing addresses, or other financial data.

2.6 Information We Do NOT Collect

We explicitly do not collect:

• Personal or contact information
• Your video or subtitle files
• Analytics or usage tracking data by us directly
• Precise location data
• Payment card or financial information (handled entirely by Google Play)

3. How We Use Information

3.1 Local Data Usage

Data stored on your device is used locally to:

• Play your selected videos and render subtitles
• Connect to the AI provider you configured and translate subtitles
• Cache translations so playback is smooth and translation can resume
• Remember your settings and last playback position

3.2 Third-Party Data Usage

• Subtitle content you send is used by your chosen AI provider to perform the translation you requested, according to its own policies.
• Data collected by Google AdMob and Google UMP is used to display personalized or non-personalized advertisements (based on your consent) and to prevent fraud and abuse.
• Data processed by Google Play is used to process and validate your purchase.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

4.1 We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

4.2 Third-Party Service Providers

The App integrates the following third-party services, which handle data according to their own privacy policies. The AI providers are contacted only when you configure them:

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities. As we hold no user content, such disclosure would be limited to information actually in our possession.

5. Data Retention

5.1 Local Data

Data stored on your device (settings, encrypted API keys, translation cache, playback positions) remains until you clear the App's translation cache or data within the App, clear app data in device settings, or uninstall the App.

5.2 Third-Party Data

Data sent to your AI provider, and data collected by Google's advertising, consent, and billing services, is retained according to their respective policies.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 For All Users

You have the right to:

• Access: View your settings and cached data within the App
• Delete: Remove all local data by clearing the cache or app data, or by uninstalling the App
• Remove API keys: Delete stored AI keys in the App's settings at any time
• Control translation: Choose whether to enable translation and which provider, if any, receives subtitle content
• Opt out of personalized ads: Manage ad personalization through the App's privacy settings or your device's advertising settings
• Remove ads: Make the one-time "remove ads" purchase

6.2 For Users in the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

Under the GDPR and applicable laws, you also have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. To exercise rights over data held by a third-party service, contact that service directly.

6.3 Managing Consent

Manage advertising consent through:

• In-App: Settings > Privacy & Data > Manage Privacy Settings
• Device Settings: Android Settings > Google > Ads

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical measures to protect data on your device:

• API keys are stored encrypted using the Android Keystore
• Data is stored only on your device; we operate no server and keep no copies
• Network requests are made only to the AI provider endpoint you configure and to the third-party SDKs listed above
• No cloud synchronization and no user accounts

Please note that transmissions to a third-party AI provider travel over the internet to that provider, subject to its security practices.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. International Data Transfers

If you use a cloud AI provider, or through Google's advertising and billing services, data may be transferred to and processed in other countries according to those providers' policies. Please refer to the relevant provider's privacy policy for details.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, displaying a notice within the App.

11. Disclaimer of Liability

11.1 Third-Party Services

We are not responsible for the data collection, use, or security practices of any third-party AI provider you connect to the App, of Google AdMob, Google UMP, or Google Play Billing, nor for the accuracy of any translation produced by those AI providers.

11.2 Data Loss

We are not responsible for any loss of data stored locally on your device, including the translation cache.

11.3 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

12. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. For EU users, it shall be interpreted in accordance with applicable EU law including the GDPR.
