1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Huab Translator ("the App", "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. On first launch the App asks you to accept these Terms before use.

2. Description of the Service

Huab Translator is an Android application that provides:

• Translation between Lao and Korean, with automatic script detection
• Reverse translation, to check a result by translating it back
• Text-to-Speech (TTS) for translated text, via Azure Speech Service through our backend proxy
• Speech-to-Text (STT) voice input for Korean, Lao, and English, via the same proxy
• Translation history, stored locally in an encrypted database, with JSON export and restore
• Image attachments in conversations, stored locally
• Customization of interface language, accent color, background, font size, and voice settings

The App requires no account and no registration. There is no subscription and no premium tier; the only purchase is one-time ad removal.

3. Eligibility

• The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children.
• If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, use the App with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
• By using the App you confirm you have the legal capacity to accept these Terms.

4. Translation Engines

4.1 Modulang (Default)

Translation is performed by the Modulang API operated by Sia Makerlab. It is provided at no charge and without a guaranteed level of availability, capacity, or accuracy.

4.2 OpenAI (Optional, Your Own Key)

You may instead register your own OpenAI API key in Settings › Translation Engine and select a model from OpenAI's live model list. If you do:

• All charges are billed directly to your own OpenAI account. Sia Makerlab receives no payment and pays nothing on your behalf.
• Your use of OpenAI is additionally governed by OpenAI's own terms and policies, which you are responsible for reviewing.
• Your API key is stored in the App's encrypted local database and is transmitted only to OpenAI. You are responsible for keeping the key confidential, for any use made of it, and for revoking it if you believe it is compromised.
• Model availability, pricing, output quality, and rate limits are controlled by OpenAI, not by us.
• We are not liable for charges you incur, for content OpenAI returns, or for OpenAI service interruptions.

You can disable the OpenAI engine and delete the stored key at any time.

5. Voice Features

• TTS and STT requests are relayed through our backend proxy to Microsoft Azure Speech Service. The proxy exists so that Azure credentials are never distributed inside the App.
• Voice features depend on shared third-party capacity. If the underlying service capacity is exhausted or the provider is unavailable, voice features may be temporarily disabled, and the App will tell you so. Translation continues to work.
• Speech recognition uses a record-then-send flow and requires microphone permission. Declining the permission disables only voice input.
• Recognition and synthesis quality vary by language, accent, background noise, and recording conditions. No accuracy is guaranteed.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You shall not:

• Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Submit content whose translation or transmission would violate applicable law or third-party rights
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract credentials, tokens, or proprietary logic from the App
• Interfere with, overload, probe, or disrupt the App, the translation API, or the voice proxy
• Use automated tooling to issue bulk translation, synthesis, or recognition requests
• Circumvent the ad display, the purchase verification, or any technical protection in the App
• Distribute malware or harmful code through the App or its import feature

We may throttle, suspend, or block access that abuses the shared translation or voice infrastructure.

7. Your Content

• You retain all rights to the text, audio, and images you provide.
• You are solely responsible for what you submit and for how you use the results.
• Your content is stored on your device. When you use a feature that requires a provider, the corresponding content is transmitted to that provider for processing, as described in the Privacy Policy.
• You are responsible for maintaining your own backups. Use the JSON export feature; we cannot recover data from your device.

8. Advertising

• The App displays adaptive banner ads and app-open ads through Google AdMob. It does not display interstitial ads.
• Ad personalization consent is collected through the Google UMP SDK where required by law, and ads are requested only after that consent gate is satisfied.
• Ad content is supplied by Google and its advertisers. We do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for advertised products or services.

9. In-App Purchase (Ad Removal)

The purchase removes advertising for as long as the App remains functional on your device. It does not grant translation quota, priority processing, or any other entitlement. If the App is discontinued, previously purchased ad removal continues to apply to installed versions but no continued service is guaranteed.

10. Availability and Changes

• The App and its backing services are provided free of charge and without any service level commitment.
• We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features, engines, voices, or the entire Service at any time, with or without notice.
• We may end support for older app versions, and features may require an update to keep working.
• Third-party dependencies (Modulang, Azure Speech, OpenAI, Google Play services) may change or become unavailable, which can affect the App.

11. Intellectual Property

• The App, its design, code, and branding are owned by Sia Makerlab. © 2026 SiamakerLab. All rights reserved.
• You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you control.
• Open-source components are used under their respective licenses; the full list is available in the App under Open Source Licenses.
• You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, or create derivative works from the App.

12. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third parties, each governed by its own terms and privacy policy:

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, pricing, or conduct of these providers.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

In particular:

• Machine translation can be wrong. Results may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or inappropriate for context.
• Do not rely on the App for medical, legal, financial, immigration, safety-critical, or emergency communication. Use a qualified human interpreter or translator for those purposes.
• Speech recognition and synthesis may misinterpret or mispronounce content.
• We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sia Makerlab shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, business, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the App — including damages arising from translation errors, voice recognition errors, service unavailability, or charges you incur on your own OpenAI account.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you actually paid to us for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 10.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sia Makerlab from claims, damages, and expenses arising out of content you submit through the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of applicable law or third-party rights.

16. Termination

• You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling removes all local data.
• We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, in particular Section 6.
• Sections 11 through 15 survive termination.

17. Governing Law and Disputes

• These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
• The parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute in good faith by contacting sia@siamakerlab.com.
• Unresolved disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Korea, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence grants you a different forum.

18. Changes to These Terms

• These Terms may be updated as the App evolves.
• Updates are published in the App and on the website.
• Material changes will be announced at least 7 days in advance.
• Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept the updated Terms, stop using the App.

These Terms are authored in English. If a translated version is provided, the English version prevails in case of any discrepancy.
